Old House Trim is a family run business operating out of Springfield Massachusetts. We specialize in restoring antique houses of all styles and ages. There are three general categories of structures that we work on:
Old buildings that are structurally sound ("good bones") but time, styles, and/or the elements have altered the original finished appearance. This is often called "modernizing" or "updating". Our expertise in forensic carpentry and finish can restore a building to its original appearance while incorporating many modern living requirements.
Old buildings that have been neglected over time and need their structures reset. We see this most often where the building meets the weather, like on porches, foundations, and roofs. In New England, water and ice have a way of creating havoc on a building's structure, so it's not uncommon for porch footings, joists and rafters, eaves, and outdoor stairs to need replacement. This type of repair is least costly if caught early, if not prevented entirely through continual monitoring and maintenance.
New building enhancement through quality, custom trim and finish. For example, some newer homes are built with a classic era in mind (Colonial, Victorian, Arts & Craft, Tudor, Contemporary, and all the variations within these groups). Appropriate trim and finish is the hallmark of a well executed style. We bring our expertise in design and craftsmanship to every project ensuring classic beauty.
We understand that the housing market is organic and fluid. So, we have recently developed our sister company Ready....Set..Go! to help homeowners who are serious about selling their homes. These services are custom designed to each home to attract a greater number of buyers. For example, a fresh coat of paint, small repairs and finishing incomplete projects are common and inexpensive ways to attract more buyers. Refitting doors that won't open or close, replacing dripping faucets, filling holes where your pictures once hung, even heavy cleaning from ceiling to floor if it's been a while. If you have a specialty project outside of our area of expertise, we can recommend a specialist. We will be glad to work with your real estate agent if you have one, or give you our recommendations for improvements geared toward selling your home.
